Meet the band!

Kelvie - Vocals

Our male vocalist Andrew 'Kelv' Mckelvie works in finance, but has been no stranger to the Aberdeen music scene, singing regularly in various pubs and clubs for the past decade with local band The Sopranos.

Megs - Vocals

Megs has a varied past with singing, starting out as just a nipper in opera before moving onto a rock band as a teen, finally graduating with a musical theatre degree, she's unstoppable! Now working as a musical therapist for all ages, she is the happiest gal going.

Stef - Vocals

Stef is another experienced vocalist. She studied music at Aberdeen College, before travelling round the world! Stef has performed for years, most recently being a key part of popular function band The Big Show, as well as in theatre shows and a ceilidh band.

Laura - Alto Sax

Laura is the latest addition to the SCSR horn section. She graduated with her BMus at Aberdeen Uni, and now works as a piano and sax tutor. Laura is also a busy mum to two young girls!

Kelly - Trumpet

Music Education graduate Kelly has been with the band for several years now, and leads the horn section in some dazzling choreography. She teaches music full time, working with some very talented students!

Julie - Trombone

Our third music teacher, Julie is the girl with the band diary if you have a booking enquiry. Another exponent of dazzling choreography on death-defying heels! Julie also earned her BMus at Aberdeen Uni, graduating shortly before Kelly and Alan.

Gary - Electric Guitar

Another music graduate, latest addition to the band Gary teaches guitar at Aberdeen and Fraserburgh colleges. He has been playing for 13 years and brings some rocking solos to the set.

Hamish - Keyboards

An Emeritus Professor no less, Hamish is enjoying his retirement playing the music of his youth; in many cases he is the only one who can remember the original releases! When not performing, Hamish's frequent holidays keep the rest of us feeling extra jealous.

Alan - Bass Guitar

Alan also studied music at the University of Aberdeen, having started out on double bass aged 10. He now regularly performs for stage shows and classical concerts, alongside running most of our technical equipment; he was also one of the band's founding members.

Andy - Drums

Andy attained teaching diplomas in drumkit and percussion while studying at Aberdeen College, and lays down a solid beat for us all to follow. He also moonlights as a taxi driver, whenever we're not busy gigging! Alongside Alan, he is one of our longest serving players.

Current setlist

We try to make our regular set as up-beat as possible in order to keep the dancefloor filled. However, we also do a few slower numbers, and are happy to learn any reasonable request for private bookings. Here are just a few of the songs you might hear at an SCSR gig...
